Camp Northstar

Camp NorthStar is on its way for a third summer of fun!  This program is available for students in the 4th through 10th grades.  Camp NorthStar provides educational and athletic activity opportunities, both indoors and outdoors, as well as weekly field trips for students.  Robotics and Cooking Classes are new additions to our academic enrichment for the summer of 2017.  Students will also have the opportunity to participate in outdoor adventures with Omaha Outward Bound School.

Camp NorthStar runs Monday through Friday, June 5th through July 28th, from 7:30 am until 5:00 pm.  The rate per student is $50 for an entire summer of adventure and enrichment!

If you are interested in enrolling your son, or have further questions, please contact Jim Stevens, Director of Education, at or (402) 614-6360 x207.

In 2015, the launch of Camp NorthStar Summer School was designed to support the academic growth of NorthStar boys during critical summer months, while building their capacity to be successful, healthy young men.

Employing evidenced-based service models: Camp NorthStar delivers summer programming that is recreational, enriching, relational, inclusive of students of varied academic skill levels, and takes place over a full day. The caliber and professionalism of summer staff distinguishes Camp NorthStar. This unique and diverse group of professionals bring decades of relevant experience in education and positive youth development to NorthStar’s efforts to engage students.

With the primary focus on academic activities, Camp NorthStar also offers students transformational challenge and adventure experiences through Omaha Outward Bound School programming. Designed to build critical life-long social skills, such as grit, tenacity, and perseverance, Omaha Outward Bound provides NorthStar boys the type of diverse, outdoor recreational experiences normally unavailable to youth in poverty.

Through shorter duration experiences, 4th – 6th grade boys receive introductory Outward Bound experiences, including camping, canoeing, and indoor rock wall climbing. Outward Bound experiences for students in 7th – 10th grades include programming on the high ropes challenge course, five-day wilderness expeditions: canoeing, rock climbing, and camping as a ‘crew.’

By offering a vast array of program activities, allowing each ‘camper’ to get involved in ways that are unique and right for him, Camp NorthStar builds skills for the classroom and for life!
