About NorthStar

What is NorthStar?

The NorthStar Foundation originated in August 2007 to focus on the critical, unmet needs of North Omaha's young males - beginning in fourth grade - with the goal of successfully building them into healthy, educated, employed contributors to their community.

Since its inception, NorthStar has examined models nationwide to clearly construct a "vision" for a truly unique, world class program and facility that will provide measureable and transformational growth for these young men. With a relentless focus on helping boys attain high school graduation and be prepared to pursue higher education or gainful employment, NorthStar seeks to change lives, one boy at a time.

At the heart of NorthStar are five program areas of emphasis: Academic Achievement, Athletics & Healthy Lifestyles, Adventure & Experiential Learning, Arts Immersion, and Actualization & Employment Readiness. Through participation in an exciting before and after school model that places youth in a safe, secure environment with mentors, staff and peers who share common goals, success in all five program areas is attainable.

Building a team of partners and the needed infrastructure to move from concept through capital campaign to operational reality is a dynamic and exciting process. With a site secured in the heart of North Omaha and corresponding building and program needs defined, NorthStar is moving forward, quietly engaging broad community support.

The NorthStar Foundation is a non-profit organization under IRS Code Section 501 (c)(3).
